Capturing the beauty of flowers over 365 days

Day 16

IMG_4701Todays flower does not resemble the usual flower that I have been posting, yet it is knows as the flower of the Acalypha hispida or better known as the Chenille plant.  Its flowers  resemble a stem of chenille.  The flowers are also called the “Red hot cat tails”.  They make great houseplants and will bloom year round, if the temperatures are right.  There are male and female species of the plant, and only the female bear the brilliant colored furry flowers.  The flowers range in color from purple to bright red.  All of the parts of this plant are poisonous to animals if ingested.  Please be aware of this when finding a home for this plant in your house.

If you enjoyed my photos, please leave me a message. I would love to hear from you. THANKS
